Mets Return to House of Horror
Ben Shipgel of the New York Times has a great piece on the Mets returning to Turner Stadium...a place where many a Met dreams have become nightmares:
"By this time in past seasons, the Mets have needed a telescope to discern how far the Braves were ahead of them in the National League East standings. But as the teams open a three-game series Friday night at Turner Field, it is the Mets who hold a five-game lead...
"But considering the Mets' many miserable memories here, it may be more realistic for them to concentrate on playing smart baseball and not think about clinching a pennant in April...
"Since it opened in 1997, the Mets are 20-51 at Turner Field. They went 1-8 here last season, 2-7 in 2004, 3-7 in 2003. In all, the Mets have not won a season series against Atlanta since 1997, and they lost two of three games last week in a matchup of hobbled teams at Shea Stadium."
