Your Late Night Fix 11.9.06 [J. Mark English]

  • The Santa Clara 49ers? Sounds funny, but could be true.
  • LeBron James defends his early departure from the court during his last game.
  • For the first time since 1977 (two years before I was born), Joe Paterno will not be coaching from the sidelines. College football will loose quite the ambassador when he finally retires.
  • The New York Yankees insist that George Steinbrenner is in good health. In other news, DVD sales should start to spike for the movie "The Madness of King George."
  • Manchester United may try to snooker away D.C. United's Freddy Adu. After Tuesday's election, I hope Manchester United tries to sign me!
  • University of Miami's football program goes from a world of promise to a world of pain. I recommend another movie in honor of Miami, "The Program."
  • Good news for Met fans: Doc Gooden is out of jail. Jose Reyes hit a walk off homerun in Japan. Bad news for Met fans: Tom Glavine files for free agency.
  • Finally, everyone knows the top ten teams in college football. But Jon Mahoney offers up the top ten prep teams in the nation.
