Slam Dunk Competitors Announced [David Stefanini]

Unfortunately the NBA announced who will try to dethrone Nate Robinson in the Sprite Slam Dunk competition. The field of Nate Robinson, Gerald Green, Tyrus Thomas, and Dwight Howard; is pathetic. Where is Desmond Mason, Josh Smith, Jason Richardson, Vince Carter, Kobe, or LeBron (In no particular order)?

What can Dwight Howard do in a dunk contest, he is a center! Center's are to tall and can not get the hang time that is needed to perform an unbelievable fast-break dunk. In a game Howard is one of the best dunkers, but on a fast break he isn't even in the top 20. Tyrus Thomas is in the same category as Howard. Thomas is to tall and will not be able to get the hang-time needed. Gerald Green has a chance to do some nice things but players like Richardson and Josh Smith are so much better. Nate Robinson has the explosiveness and the hang time needed to get the job done, but his competition is not there. I am not excited to watch the Dunk Contest this year because of the lack of high-flying dunkers.
