Jerry West to Leave Grizzlies [David Stefanini]

The man who pulled the best trade on NBA Draft day history, Jerry West, is leaving the Memphis Grizzlies on July 1st. West said he is no longer a young man who had the energy to deal with the turmoil the Grizzlies are in this season.

Jerry West will be forever remembered for a few things. None of them will stand out in a person's memory than being the player on the NBA Logo. As a man who recognizes talents and puts together a quality team he will be remembered for trading away Vlade Divac for an 18 year old high school prospect named, Kobe Bryant.

West will be remembered in Memphis for starting off very strong. They had their three best seasons in franchise history under him, but seemed to never be able to get over that hump. Now they are the worst team in the league and are the leading candidates for the Oden/Durant sweepstakes.

Next year the Grizzlies are going to be a very talented and young team. The incoming director of basketball operations is going to inherit a team well put together and built for the future.
