Rollins at 38

In the baseball documentary by Ken Burns, there was mention that in 1941 during Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak, a person could walk into a barber shop in Montana and just say "did he get another?" and everyone knew what he was talking about. That was before television...

Jimmy Rollins extended his hitting streak last night to 38 games in a row. Should he keep the streak alive and flirt with history, there will be media mania. Controversy will be added to the story if Rollins is even able to get to 56 because there will be some who say that Rollins streak is not the same as DiMaggios', because DiMaggio did not have an off season in the middle of his streak. Of course, this is all for naught if Rollins goes hitless before 56.
