Maddux to the Padres: [David Stefanini]

It has been reported today that future Hall of Famer, Greg Maddux, has signed with the San Diego Padres. Maddux and the Padres have agreed to a one-year deal worth $10 million. The contract also include an option for 2008 worth close to $7 million.
This is a great addition to the Padres rotation. They are a young pitching staff who needs a Hall of Famer to guide them. They have that guy in Maddux. The Padres are going to go into next season with high hopes of making it past the first round of the playoffs. Is Maddux the answer to getting past the first round, I think it may. However, I don't see them getting to the World Series any time soon.
