Tomlinson Reaches 1,200 Rushing Yards... Again: [David Stefanini]
For the sixth straight year to start his career, LaDainian Tomlinson, also known as MVP, has cracked the 1,200 yard mark for rushing in a single season. LT joins Eric Dickerson as the only two players in NFL history to start their careers with six straight 1,200 yard seasons. He eclipsed the 1,200 yard mark on a 51-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Tomlinson would finish the game with 178 yards and 2 touchdowns. LT has not only tied this mark, but in doing so he has 20 more rushing touchdowns than Dickerson had at this point in his career.
The Chargers are on a six game win streak. During that six game span Tomlinson's worst game, I repeat his WORST game, consisted of 109 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. There are close to 30 other starting running backs that would love to be that unlucky.
If the voting was done today, I would assume that LT would have the Offensive Player of the Year award, and he would win that Unanimously . The MVP award, I feel, should be his also. He has his team tied for the best record in the league, also he is on pace to shatter every touchdown record there is for a running back. Furthermore, he is on the greatest six stretch any running back has ever gone on.
LT has Denver, KC, Seattle, and Arizona left on his schedule. I would look for LT to continue this great run he is having. With the way he is carrying this team, I would expect them to be representing the AFC in the SuperBowl.
