Video: Go Army! Go Navy! [J. Mark English]
Today's schedule of college football games features the infamous Army-Navy game. This is a rivalry that goes back to 1890. After 1894 the game had to be cancelled because of the intense violence that took place on the field. In 1899 the game was restored and every year since these two institutions have squared off.
In a time of war, we remember that these two teams are more then just a collection off football players. They are individuals who have dedicated their lives to serving our country. Many of these players may wind up being on the front lines in the war on terrorism in the years to come. Even if this game does not have the national implications that it did back in the 1940's and 1950's, it still is the game that our country pours its spirit into, in gratitude for the lives these men have chosen.
So, below are some video clips from the previous year, setting you up for the greatest tradition in college football: The Army-Navy game!
