Pittsburgh Headed Towards Big East Final [David Stefanini]

For the sixth time in the past seven years Pittsburgh is going to be playing for the Big East Championship. This time it is going to be the 9th seeded Georgetown Hoyas waiting for them.

Pittsburgh beat Louisville 65-59 on the strength of a huge run to open the second half. It was a 20-2 run which included 12 straight points for the Panthers. Pittsburgh had a six point lead late in the game, but Louisville would not go away quietly. They cut the lead down to three points with a little under 30 seconds to go in the contest. However Pittsburgh did not panic and took control of the game from that point on.

Their defense was stellar, and their free-throw shooting was as good as it could be. They held off Louisville's run and made it to the Finals.

Prediction:
I think Georgetown is going to come out on top in this one. They are in the top 10 and obviously want to be considered for a 1 or 2 seed. If they can pull off the victory against Pittsburgh they are more than likely going to grab one of those top 8 seeds handed out in the tournament. Georgetown knows this and I think they have the talent to go out and grab it.
